Counting Online and on Live Dealer
The honest limits: why RNG blackjack can't be counted, and why live-dealer games rarely give the count room to matter.
RNG blackjack: nothing to count
Standard online blackjack shuffles a fresh virtual shoe every hand. There is no depletion, so there is no composition to track — the count resets before it can mean anything. Counting an RNG game is counting a coin flip; the arithmetic runs fine and measures nothing.
Live dealer: real cards, starved conditions
Live-dealer studios deal real cards on camera, so a count technically exists. But the conditions are built against it: many tables use continuous or frequent shuffles, and those that deal a shoe typically cut it shallow — the rich depths where the edge lives are exactly the part never dealt. Add betting limits and the pace of studio play, and the honest assessment is that live dealer rarely offers a countable edge worth the hours.
What online IS good for
Training. Free-play tables are a fine place to run strategy reps and count along for practice with zero money at risk. The skills transfer; the edge does not. If your goal is counting for real, the training happens anywhere — the playing happens where physical shoes get dealt deep.
